Governors

Welcome

The governing body at Moorside High represents parents, staff and local citizens either through the local authority nominating them, or as volunteers. It works with the school senior leadership team to act as a 'critical friend' reviewing policy, strategy, progress against targets and many aspects of school life. As well as termly full governing body meetings, there are also regular sub-committee meetings to discuss school life, pastoral care, staffing and curriculum etc., finance and buildings.

Individual governors also link with all the various departments and other key issues such as trips and visits, pupil assessment and monitoring etc. and are regularly in touch with the senior staff relevant to their specialist area.

Minutes of meetings are available.

I have been chair of governors at Moorside since 2009, vice chair before that, and a sub-committee chair for many years. In total I've been on the governing body at Moorside for over 20 years. I work in higher education and health, and my colleagues on the governing body come from many walks of life and varied backgrounds.

We are very proud of Moorside, and are confident it provides excellent all-round education, but focuses in particular on the basics young people need to get on in life- English, Maths and Computing, to give them a firm foundation for their future life as citizens, the world of work, and leisure.

The school works hard to build on the strengths of all pupils, and to bring out the best in them, to make them justifiably proud of their achievements, themselves, their school and their family and community.
Moorside is a friendly, caring and stimulating environment.

We are happy to welcome new members to our school community, and encourage all to be active in the life of the school, through attending events, visiting school and supporting your children.

Professor Mark Gabbay,
Chair of Governors.
