A friendly, caring school with a family ethos

Community Link

Moorside High school is committed to one of its fundamental beliefs of a strong family ethos.  Our heart is focused on being firmly embedded in the local community.  The pupils, parents, staff and governors continually contribute and develop new ways for the school to make our community a better and inclusive place.

We promote pride in our ability to empathise and assist all members of the community in ways both large and small.  This in turn promotes mutual respect and caring.

As part of our community link initiative, Moorside has been a flagship school in its work with Springwood Primary.  The staff and pupils of Springwood kindly allow Moorside pupils to attend weekly, to gain skills such as working in positions of responsibility with the pupils.  They act as mentors and engage in activities to broaden everyone’s experiences and understanding of all abilities within our community.

We have a strong team of pupil mediators who regularly hold events.  They liaise with local care homes, charities and the senior citizens from the church and community. We host special events where everyone comes together to celebrate the diversity and experience within our locality.  Events such as Christmas parties, carol concerts, harvest festival and other seasonal celebrations.  As a school we also offer continual support to various charities such as Francis House, MacMillan and homeless charity Coffee4Craig and many others.
