Able, Gifted and Talented

Able, Gifted and Talented Pupils @ Moorside High

What is available to me as an Able, Gifted and Talented (AGT) pupil @Moorside?

All of our AGT students benefit from tracking interviews with Miss Jevon throughout the academic year. Students may meet in a group situation or one on one to discuss their progress and identify any extra support or intervention necessary. Students will then set their own targets for improvement which will be revisited at points throughout the year.

AGT students in all year groups will get the chance to take part in workshops both in and out of school and trips and visits specifically tailored to their needs. These have most recently included trips to the University of Central Lancashire, The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University.

AGT students may also be asked to participate in subject specific AGT projects. These allow the students to deepen their knowledge and understanding within this particular subject and experience challenges outside of the classroom environment.

There is also a wealth of extra-curricular activities which would benefit AGT students such as Drama, German and Chess clubs.

As well as our whole school AGT cohort, which is identified using CATS tests and KS2 data, students may also be identified as Able, Gifted and Talented in specific subjects. Students identified as AGT in subject areas will also have opportunities to attend trips, workshops and projects. For example students identified as AGT in Drama, Textiles and Art recently attended a trip to the University of Central Lancashire degree shows.

For more information or to discuss any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact Miss K Jevon. Kelda.jevon@moorsidehigh.com

AGT Exemplar Work

Congratulations to Leila Hill (Year 8) who produced an outstanding piece of Drama homework this term. Her ‘message in a bottle’ turned into 17 letters!! These were all written in role and she not only spent time writing them, but also tea-stained them which added a lovely creative twist! Leila is our AGT Drama star of the month. Well done!

’Look at the amazing Drama homework produced by Year 8! They were sending a ‘message in a bottle’ from their character who was stranded on a desert island. So creative!

Look at Year 7’s amazing ‘Haunted Lift’ set designs! We have some very talented and creative students here at Moorside High!’
