DraMA

Welcome to the Drama Department:

  • Miss A Lea - Assistant Head Teacher
  • Miss K Jevon - Head of Drama

Welcome to the Drama Department at Moorside High School! In Drama you will experience vibrant and exciting lessons delivered by teachers who are passionate about the Performing Arts.

There are plenty of opportunities to take part in extra-curricular activities, such as trips to the theatre, whole school productions and lunchtime Drama club.

During the last academic year, Moorside High School presented two very successful performances: ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Matilda.’ In previous years we have staged, ‘Oliver,’ ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ ‘Bugsy Malone’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland’ to name but a few.

Moorside High School Drama department also provide wider opportunities for the students. Last year, Year 10 took part in the ‘Fearless project’ where they devised a play based on issues they felt were important in our area. This was performed in front of 10 other Salford Schools and a panel of judges at the AJ Bell stadium. This year, Year 9 have been working closely with Salford University and an advocate for ‘Action for Sick Children’ and have created a performance based on a day in their lives. This was performed in front of NHS and University staff at Salford University and they were so pleased with it they even invited us back to film it professionally! We are hoping to move forward with this next year and run workshops with some of the children who are supported by the charity ‘Action for sick children.’

We have been on three theatre trips this year. ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,’ ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time’ and ‘The Crucible.’ As it is our passion, we love going to the theatre as much as possible!

The opportunities at Moorside High School are endless!
