Burrs Trip 2017

All about BURRS by two of our year 7 pupils:

Where do I start, what a fun day?

Canoeing

Burrs was great: you get to do amazing activity’s like canoeing, learning how to row a canoe with your best friend and play games on the water. It was the best! Our form laughed for what felt like hours as our form tutor capsized. I will remember that day forever.

Raft Building

Next we were set the challenge to build a raft. We worked together with friends and our form tutor. It was great! But be aware, when we were going across the rope get ready because when you least aspect it the teacher cut the rope and you all fall off.

High Ropes

Don’t be scared to take part in this activity because it is so much fun. You get to challenge yourself and tests your limit. Try and be the best you can it’s brilliant. We all supported each other, not only by belaying but with encouragement too.

Burrs has given me experiences I have never had before.

Burrs was a lot of fun and I really bonded with my form. We got to do canoeing, raft-making and climbing. It was a great start to the year and I would highly recommend it.

Canoes:

During the canoeing, we had a go of steering with other pupils in our form. Avoiding other canoes, splashes and weeds; it was great. At the end we came together to climb across each other’s boats. I went across the canoes and someone let go of the canoe so I fell in!!! It was so fun and we laughed for hours.

Raft-Making:

Raft making was a lot of fun. We had three lucky questions which we could use if we needed help, like with doing secure knots. We built our own rafts and put them to the test. Only one could go across and tie the knot so the rest had to go on the tightropes to climb from one side to the other.

High ropes:

High ropes was about pushing you out of your comfort zone. It was hard but helpful. A brilliant way of training yourself to climbs up heights.

All in all, I really enjoyed it and made loads of new friends. Why can’t every day be a BURRS Day?
