Year 11 Meal at Leo's Restaurant

On 9th October 2014, 40 Year 11 pupils, 6 Year 11 Form Tutors, the Director of Learning for Year 11 and a Deputy Head Teacher met at Leo’s in Monton for a team building meal.  Due to the pressures of up and coming GCSE examinations it is vital that pupils should be given memorable activities that encourage them to expand on friendships and socialise outside of the classroom.  The meal was organised on an optional basis with all pupils from the year 11 cohort being invited to attend. The numbers that decided to attend shows the positive attitude of the year group as a whole and the eagerness to work as a team. Staff and pupils arrived at 7.30pm for a night that involved a three course meal, music and lots of laughter.  Year 11 is a life changing year for every pupil and so it is vital that we take time to appreciate those around us that can ease the demands of GCSE’s where necessary. It was lovely to see staff sitting with pupils with funny stories being shared, creating a light hearted atmosphere and a much deserved evening for all of the hard working pupils involved. There was a memorable moment for Olivia who has always wanted to call for order and was encouraged by Mrs Kirk to gain the attention of her peers by banging her spoon on a glass ready for the speeches. Olivia had her moment and it was followed by cheers from all those that witnessed it! There was an emotional moment, when the Head Boy (Sam) and Head Girl (Rebecca) delivered a thank you speech to Mrs Kirk for her constant efforts to help them succeed as a year group. The speeches were followed by a huge round of applause and a couple of tears were shed by Mrs Kirk.

What a brilliant start to Year 11- Keep up the hard work and exemplary attitude to succeed.
