A friendly, caring school with a family ethos

Year 11 Information

Director of Learning – Mr J Gannon

My name is Mr Gannon and I am Head of Year 11. I am passionate about instilling Moorside’s family ethos into my year group whilst also ensuring that every individual is achieving their full potential. I think it is vital that pupils are given the opportunity to express themselves and celebrate their successes with others. My aim is for my year group to work as a team and strive for the best results in everything they do.

This year more than ever there will be an expectation for pupils to reflect on their own progress which will inform them of the study they need to undertake in preparation for their GCSE examinations. Pupils are being given the opportunity to plan their week of personal study during form time and there is a requirement for this to be shared with parents/carers at home by the pupils themselves. Planning, hard work and preparation from the start of the year will prevent unnecessary stress in the lead up to exams.

This is going to be a challenging but exciting year and I look forward to celebrating the Year group's successes next summer.
