Year 11 Information

Head of Year 11 – Mr D Hackett

As the Head of Year 11 at Moorside High School I hope to be able to support our Year 11 pupils both pastorally and academically in the final year of their studies in preparation for their upcoming GCSE exams.  Following the year group last year as Learning Mentor has helped me build firm foundations in preparation for the exciting and challenging year ahead, which we will get through together.

Every pupil in the year is unique with their own talents and aspirations. This year group is extremely talented and we aim to utilise these talents and support them to overcome any weaknesses or barriers to their learning through our extremely talented team of staff.  At Moorside High School we want to ensure your child is happy, builds good relationships with staff and peers, feels nurtured and thrives both socially and academically.

Year 11 is the final year in a child’s High School educational journey and we hope we can make it both an enjoyable year as well as being focused on the hard work needed to achieve their academic potential.  Your child is now becoming a young adult and will need to begin to focus on their long term goals of attending College, University or gaining an apprenticeship.

However, while still at Moorside it is not just about their academic success, we put great importance into sending each individual out into the world being resilient, confident and able to stand on their own two feet. We will be specifically working on challenging each pupil and pushing them outside their comfort zone. This will enable them to deal with whatever life may throw at them.

Punctuality, high effort and completion of all work set is the minimum we want from all students in Year 11 and they should aim for this in order to achieve the highest success possible come the end of their exam programme in July 2018.
