Year 10 Information

Head of Year 10 - Mr Connaughton

Becoming the head of year 10 at Moorside High School is an honour and a pleasure. Since October I have worked closely with the year group as their Learning Mentor which has provided me with the opportunity to form close working relationships with the whole year group.

I am firmly of the belief that your child is unique, as are their talents and aspirations. At Moorside High School we want to ensure your child is happy, builds good relationships with staff and peers, feels nurtured and thrives.

Year 10 is an important year in a child’s education; the next two years are so important in influencing their future. This is where the quest for important GCSE grades begins and the opportunity to start exploring life after leaving Moorside. Our children can begin to focus on their long term aspirations: attending College, University or gaining an apprenticeship.

However, your child’s time at Moorside is not just about their academic success. We want to send your child out into the world being resilient, confident and able to stand on their own two feet. We will be specifically working on challenging your child and taking them outside their comfort zone. This will enable them to deal with whatever life may throw at them.

Punctuality, high effort and completion of all work set is a goal that all students in Year 10 should aim for in order to achieve the highest success possible.

I look forward to working alongside you all for the next two years.
