France Trip 2018

On Wednesday 21st November, 41 Year 8’s and 5 members of Staff left Moorside High’s Car Park with one destination – Boulogne-sur-la-mer, France. It may have only been 7am in the morning but everyone was in high spirits. We took the tunnel under the sea and arrived in France just in time to do a bit of afternoon shopping. The Eurotunnel was definitely living up to its slogan ‘Faster than any Ferry to France’.

The hotel was in Le Touquet and the food there was delicious. We had a three course meal both evenings and Year 8 became very good at ordering drinks in French. The hotel staff commented on numerous occasions about how polite our pupils were.

On the first day we went to a French town where students had the opportunity to go shopping for souvenirs and whilst practising their French.

Then we went to a Sweet Factory where we learnt all about making hard sweets and Jelly Sweets. Luckily the weather allowed us to have our packed lunches next to the beach before we went into Nausicaa, a huge sea life centre, where we saw: sharks, seals, crocodiles and much more. If that wasn’t enough, we then went to a Snail Farm where we learnt all about how fantastic snails are and even tried some.

On the last day we stopped off at a bakery where we all got a chance at making our own croissants and then taste some freshly baked pain au chocolats. It was a fantastic trip where pupils made the staff very proud to be a part of Moorside High.
