The Curious Incident Performance

On Friday 23rd November, Moorside High School were extremely lucky to be able to welcome The National Theatre into school, with their version of 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.' The performance was phenomenal, with students and staff alike hooked from start to finish! All GCSE Drama students watched the performance and then took part in a Q&A session afterwards with cast and crew. This was a fantastic opportunity to ask about both the play itself, and the industry.

We had some fantastic responses to the performance from our students, including:

  • Megan Evans, Year 9  - It was amazing to see the world from someone else's perspective
  • Rebeka Kraja, Year 9 - I loved the physical theatre!
  • Kane Lea-Sales, Year 9 - It was so different to any other theatre I have seen before. It really inspired me for my future work.
  • Emily Griffiths, Year 10 - I felt privileged that we were able to watch it. It was amazing.
  • Georgie Farrell, Year 11 - The cast were so professional. The story line was surprising and the whole performance was breath taking.

Following on from this, Year 9 and and 10 students will be studying the play in lessons and focusing on the theatre company Frantic Assembly, who directed the piece.

This is the beginning of what we hope will be a great collaboration with Moorside High School, The National Theatre and The Lowry Theatre. This 'Theatre Nation' project will consist of many more opportunities for our students to have access to high quality, professional theatre.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to The National Theatre and The Lowry Theatre for providing us with this amazing opportunity and we look forward to working with you again in the future.
