A friendly, caring school with a family ethos

Whole School Coffee Morning

In October 2014, Moorside High School joined Macmillan Cancer Trust, to host a coffee morning in aid of supporting the toughest fight that many families face. This is Macmillan's biggest fundraising event, where people across the UK to hold a coffee morning and raise money for people living with cancer. In 2013, 154,000 people signed up, raising a record £20 million! This year the trust is striving to exceed the amount raised last year! Moorside High School is keen to help the trust surmount their aim and to help those sadly affected.

The coffee morning saw both staff and pupils socializing in our brand new food hall whilst eating a variety of carefully decorated cupcakes; fantastic flap jacks; scrumptious scones and a very favorable chocolate fudge cake! We did not stop there…the cakes on offer were not solely responsible for the tantalizing of taste buds. The consumption of cakes was accompanied with a mouthwatering selection of drinks. A particular favorite was hot chocolate, with pupils taking advantage of their teachers taking orders and serving them with the array of delights.

In one break time alone we raised over £500 as a school! This again is testimony to our ‘family ethos’ here at Moorside High School. A real team effort was seen from the Year 11 Prefect team for organizing the event, from staff serving pupils during their break time and from all year groups donating to such a rewarding charity.

A momentous morning- thank you to all those that participated!
