Year 10 Chester University trip

At the end of last term, a small group of students from Moorside were lucky enough to attend a residential trip to The University of Chester. Over the two days they took part in workshops focused on University Life and budgeting, the courses which are available at University, how to apply to University and also the clubs and societies which you can join. The students had a tour of both the Chester and Warrington campus’ and got to spend the night like real students; in their own dorm room! On the final day they attended their first real lecture and seminar with the leader of the ‘Film and TV Studies’ course at the Warrington campus. They created their own TV chat show with a host, guests, camera operators, sound, lighting, directors and floor managers. They had done a full day’s work by the time they left the studio!

Moorside High students loved meeting students from other schools who were on the trip. As well as learning more about the academic side of University, they got a real taste of what it is like to meet new people and make new friends when you choose to go to University.

Able, Gifted and Talented student Hannah Kelly said about the trip;

The Chester trip was great experience to be part of. My peers and I got to meet great people our age that came from other schools and had some good bonding time. We all worked as a team very well together. We all learnt plenty things from good team work skills, social skills to circus skill which was brilliant!

The trip really made us think about what we would like to do in the future and we learnt a lot about how to apply for University, which University to pick, how much work is involved and how to budget once we get there.

We also loved the experience of staying in a University Halls of residence.

Thank you to The University of Chester!
