Curriculum and Class Setting
Over the past two terms, students have engaged with a rich and varied English curriculum, studying Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, The Odyssey, and a selection of Identity Poetry. During this time, they have been taught in their form groups, allowing us to get to know them as learners and to assess their progress closely.

Following feedback from previous events, it was highlighted that it is often inconvenient for parents/carers to come into school early in the evening for events that sometimes can only last 40-45minutes. We have therefore decided to trial an electronic presentation for Year 10 Parents/Carers on how they can best support their child in the run up to the Year 10 End of Year Exams.

We have therefore decided to trial an electronic presentation for Year 10 Parents/Carers on how you can best support your child in the run up to the Year 10 End of Year Exams. This was initially planned to be an in-person event, so we hope that this alternative way supports the feedback we have received.

Moorside High School is excited to be one of the host schools for The National Theatre school’s tour of The LeftBehinds. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, The LeftBehinds follows a group of unlikely heroes on a high-energy quest across a desolate wasteland to rebuild an android, unlock its power, and save the planet. The National Theatre is performing in only a small number of schools in the Greater Manchester area, and we are so pleased that they have chosen to visit Moorside High School on Monday 3rd March.

“I cannot speak highly enough about the Head of Year 7 at Moorside, Mr Williams. He has made every effort to make sure my daughter has settled into secondary school and has continued to check in with her throughout the school year. The transition from primary school has been smooth thanks to the staff and my daughter feels safe and happy at Moorside.”
"All of our children have been of differing academic abilities, and have all received the appropriate support necessary for them to achieve their goals on leaving school. They have formed good friendships with their peers and staff members alike, and their well-being has been nurtured in a supportive atmosphere created by enthusiastic staff members. It is within this environment that they have been encouraged, both in their academic studies but also with their sporting events, to always achieve their best.”
“We have always been delighted with the feedback and responsiveness of the teaching staff at Moorside High School. The communications, letters, videos, etc. have helped us to be involved in our child's learning and understand the importance of the school's values.”
"We learn lots of new things and new subjects and the teachers make it really fun!"
Ariana
"The students and staff are really nice, friendly, and helpful."
Lexi
"I like the fact that the school has lots of open spaces and different areas to learn in."
