Staff and students at Moorside High School are thrilled to invite you to our 2026 Open Evening. On the evening, prospective parents and students can get a real feel for what the school offers and ‘The Moorside Way’. Principal's Talks take place at 5:00pm & 6:00pm in the Sports Hall.

  • NGRT Parental Communication

    As part of our commitment to supporting every child to become a confident and successful reader, students will be completing a reading assessment called the New Group Reading Test (NGRT) in the coming days/weeks.

  • Blackpool Logistics

    We are delighted to share the logistics for the rewards trip to Blackpool that your child has been allocated a place on. We are taking two trips, one on Monday 13th July and another on Wednesday 15th July. Year 7 & 8 pupils will attend on Monday and Year 9 & 10 pupils will attend on Wednesday.

    This is an exciting milestone as students prepare to begin the next stage of their education. Key Stage 4 brings new opportunities, increased independence and a greater focus on subjects that students enjoy and wish to study in more depth. The next two years will require hard work, commitment and resilience, and we will be encouraging all students to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality to give themselves the very best chance of success.

  • University of Sheffield Health-Related Study

    Our school is collaborating with the University of Sheffield on a health-related study investigating
    seasonal changes in school absences during the autumn term, after pupils return to school in
    September. The study will run from July 2026 to December 2026.

    We're delighted to share with you the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection, which took place on 6th and 7th May 2026. We are extremely proud that the school has been judged to be meeting the expected standard across all areas, with safeguarding also confirmed as fully effective. This report recognises the significant improvements we have made together as a school community and celebrates many strengths of Moorside High School. 

  • Blackpool Rewards Trip Summer 2026

    We are delighted to share that on Monday 13th and Wednesday 15th July 2026, a number of students will be invited to take part in Moorside High School’s Rewards Trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. This trip is a celebration of the hard work, commitment, and positive attitude our students have shown throughout the school year.

    Curriculum and Class Setting

    Over the past two terms, students have engaged with a rich and varied English curriculum, studying Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, The Odyssey, and a selection of Identity Poetry. During this time, they have been taught in their form groups, allowing us to get to know them as learners and to assess their progress closely.

    support of this year’s GCSE examinations. Attendance at these sessions is strongly encouraged, as they are 
    designed to help students maximise their performance in the remaining exams.
