Personal Development
Our PSHE curriculum at Moorside High School equips students with the knowledge and skills to understand more about how to play a positive and successful role within our society, both as a child and as an adult. Our intention is to provide students with a knowledge of their world, locally, nationally and globally and give them confidence to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up within this. We aim to provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about acting socially responsible, rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our curriculum provides comprehensive, unbiased and correct information, it is age-appropriate and builds on learning and knowledge each year.
Moreover, our students are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community. We challenge all of our pupils to look for opportunities to show the school values of TEAM and CARE and seek leadership opportunities within the school gates and their local community.

DEAR Time - Drop Everything And Read
The idea of DEAR time is to 'literally' drop everything and read for pleasure at a designated time each week during form time. Repetition of DEAR across the term, ensures that students are practising important reading skills needed for their eduction.
Review and Reflect
This is an opportunity for students to look at their week and look at what they have achieved and potentially what they will do differently the following week. The student bulletin is shared with them, alongside the 'Word of the Week'
Numeracy Ninjas
This is an intervention designed to fill gaps in students' basic mental calculation strategies and also to empower them with the numeracy skills and fluency required to fully access GCSE Maths concepts when they move to Key Stage 4 study. Through the incorporation of Science of Learning principles such as retrieval, spacing and interleaving, this ensures students' learning is retained over time and transferrable to many contexts.
